Transferring an active domain name entails changing the domain name registrar that provides the registration service, so after the transfer, you’ll have to manage things like renewal payments or DNS record updates through the new registrar. The transfer process is standard with most top-level domain name extensions. Some country-code extensions are more specific and entail different procedures, but in the general case transferring a domain involves several basic procedures and one of them is unlocking the domain name. The domain lock is a safety option, which is being adopted by more and more registry organizations. It is a default feature supported by all generic top-level domain names. If a domain is locked, it will be impossible to initiate a transfer process, so no one can even attempt to steal your domain name. The domain lock can be removed only through the account where the domain is registered and all new domains that support this feature are locked by default the moment they are registered.

Registrar Lock in Shared Website Hosting

Locking and unlocking a domain registered through us is extremely easy. This can be done through the Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with our Linux shared website hosting, and will require literally two clicks of the mouse. All your domain names will be displayed in alphabetical order in the Registered Domains section of the Control Panel and next to those whose extensions support the registrar lock option, you will notice a padlock-like icon. Click on it once and you’ll see the current status of the domain name. Click again and you’ll change its status. The change will propagate momentarily without the need for you or for us to do anything else for the status to be ‘refreshed’ on WHOIS lookup websites, so you can proceed with the transfer process right away.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers

Managing your domain names with our company is exceptionally easy and the registrar lock option is not an exception. In case you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account, you will be able to administer the domain names registered through our company using the exact same Control Panel via which you will manage your hosting account. For your convenience, the domain names will be listed in alphabetical order and on the right you will see a padlock-like icon in case the given domain name supports the registrar lock feature. If you click the icon, you’ll see whether the particular domain name is locked or not and you will be able to update this status by clicking once again. The status will be changed right away and you will be able to initiate the domain transfer without the need to wait for the change to be shown on WHOIS lookup sites or for our company to do anything on our end.
